• Meet the Team

    Lorraine Powell - Principal I.S.T.D, I.D.T.A, R.A.D

I began my career at the age of 4.  Dancing at the Lesley Reason School of Dance in Nottingham.  There I gained my I.S.T.D and I.D.T.A in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern and Acrobatics.

During this time I also studied at the Nora Morrison School of Dance where I received my Royal Ballet R.A.D qualifications.

I then progressed onto the Laine Theatre Arts Stage School in London completing my studies before entering the world of professional dance.

My enthusiasm and passion for dance helps my pupils build their skills, many of whom I have watched grow from an early age being very shy to bursting with confidence.

  • "J" - Freelance Street Dance Teacher

I am a self taught dancer specialising in break and street dance.  I have been teaching for the Dance Divaz since 2010 at the Arnold and Ilkeston classes.  I also work in a school as a teaching assistant.

Dancing is my life!  I train 6 days a week so I can maintain my core strength.  I am dedicated and passionate about dance.  I love nothing more than seeing the pupils perfect their dance moves.

I am privileged to have worked with many famous pop stars and have recently auditioned for the hit show "Got to Dance" with my crew The Groundhogs.

  • Dawn Rafferty

I have always worked in front of house positions whereby I have dealt with members of the public on a daily basis.

I first met Lorraine when I attended her dance class, this led onto me working for Dance Divaz and completing administration duties for the dance school.

My favourite time working for this busy dance school is around Showtime.  I especially love the buzz from the pupils and being kept busy ordering the fantastic costumes.  Seeing all of the preparations come together is a great experience and gives me a sense of both pride and achievement.

Both Lorraine and "J" hold current CRBs

Dance Divaz also has a number of assistants helping in the classes. Click here to meet them.
